What is Pregnancy Yoga?

Whether this is your first pregnancy or you have been pregnant before, Pregnancy Yoga is here to help you live your pregnancy the best possible way, preparing yourself both mentally & physically for the birth of your baby/babies.

Pregnancy Yoga classes create a space for the expecting Mum to feel nurtured and rested through a variety of easy exercises, tailored for her exclusive needs.

Pregnancy Yoga is also a time to socialise with other pregnant ladies, share tips & support each other in this most vital time of your life.

Everyone can practice with confidence and comfort as classes are adapted to the specific needs of the student(s) that day. Modifications are offered according to stages of pregnancy, flexibility & strength. You do not need previous yoga experience.

You will learn invaluable tools, for a lifetime of caring and loving! You will learn how to relax, restore and centre yourself too.

**Classes in-person in Knutsford, at Carrot Banana Peach Studio, and Bodywise in Manchester Northern Quarter. In-person classes are run with careful hygiene measures, in groups of up to 7 or 8 mums depending on the venue. Book a course or Pay as you Go.

Your Daytime Class is on Thursdays 11.45-13.00 in Manchester.
New Daytime Class Wednesdays 12.00-13.15 in Knutsford with Aerial Relaxation in a hammock.
Classes are available online on request, if you’re aren’t local or don’t wish to travel.**

Various Breathing techniques are taught for different stages of labour – offering aid for pain relief and focus during labour and birthing.

Birth Partners welcome

Baby’s other parent is welcome to join during special birth preparation sessions. You’ll all rehearse together and the birth partner will learn to be a useful support during labour.

The session usually takes place with other couples in Knutsford or Manchester. One-to-one sessions tailored to your exclusive needs are available too, at the couple’s home or studio.

Guidelines for Pregnancy Yoga

  • No previous Yoga experience is necessary
  • Classes are suitable from 14 weeks onwards right until your due date
  • You are entitled to time off work for all your ante natal care, enquire with your employer and make the most of your right!
  • A few sessions will help boost your confidence towards labour, relieve anxiety and help with sleep disturbances

In the class

  • Wear comfortable clothes
  • Move slowly and gently
  • Rest whenever you need to
  • Use supports such as a bolster, thick cushions, bed pillows, an exercise ball and blankets – comfort is key
  • Don’t practice immediately after a meal, a light snack or fruit is ok but when possible, wait until after the class for a main meal
  • When practicing at home, try create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation, dim the lights or play soft background music
  • Listen to your body and don’t try movements you aren’t comfortable with
  • Allow space for your bump at all times
